Description |
A nice piece of deep purple quartz var. amethyst with orange to red hematite interspersed aesthetically in the channels and depressions between the well-formed drusy quartz crystals. This material is found in the Bushveld Complex, a poly-metallic igneous deposit approximately 70 km northeast of Pretoria, which produces large quantities of platinum and chromium, and popular collector pieces including "spirit cactus" specimens similar to this sample. |
