Description |
A small reference sample of sunstone, this cabochon displays the optical property know as aventurescence, a distinct "glitter" under the surface of the mineral. Sun stone is sought after for this reason, and varying forms of it will display either a speckled, sand like glitter like what appears in this piece, or a lattice formation where the glitter effect appears as interlocking lines at right angles. This mineral is most commonly cut and polished to accentuate this optical effect. |
