Description |
This incredible specimen, a former possession of the collection of the Philadelphia academy of natural sciences, is both visually distinctive and historically interesting, with great provenance. This item features two specimens of white to gray-blue flint, one larger, semi rectangular block and a smaller, roughly fan-shaped piece. The larger piece has a sparkling quartz drusy on one side and larger clear crystal clusters on the opposite side. The smaller piece has sharp, serrated edges and very nice color streaks ranging from red to blue. The pieces are accompanied by two excellent provenance pieces- a collection card from the Philadelphia Academy, and a very fine, hand-written account of the extraction of this piece, by Dr. Bertram Gilliland, M.D. in 1926. |
