Description |
A fine larger sample of this popular mineral species from the Caribbean nation of the Dominican Republic, which is located on the island of Hispaniola, which is the only known locality that produces this material. Larimar is a variety of the silicate mineral pectolite, which is more commonly found in colorless varieties. This sample is polished on one side, but remains rough along the outer edges and back. This piece demonstrates the nice white "webbing" appearance and deep aqua-blue coloration that is most sought after in this species, which is used in a lot of fine jewelry pieces sold by jewelry stores and street vendors. |
