Description |
A neat little cluster of deep red-orange hopeite labeled from the former African breakaway nation of Rhodesia, now Zambia. This specimen is in an original Willard Perkin perky box, which adds to the historic appeal of this unusual specimen. Given the labeling it is safe to assume this specimen predates the 1979 transition is this country to it's current name. Hopeite is known to form as an oxidation product of sphalerite when it is exposed to a phosphate rich solution. |
