Description |
This piece comes from a famous collecting locality in Southern California which is now closed off for development of housing. Howlite was used extensively as a base mineral that would be dyed blue-green to create simulated Turquoise. It has become increasingly rare in it's own right, as the collecting location has been blocked off, and consequently less common to see it used as a turquoise simulant. |
