Perky Box Pseudomorph
|
Origin Location |
Lovell, Big Horn Co., Wyoming, USA |
Description |
This pseudomorph thumbnail demonstrates the replacement of aragonite by dolomite. The crystal retains the obvious hexagonal euhedral aragonite shape while displaying an opaque, bisque coloration which is indicative of the complete replacement of the underlaying calcium mineral. These pseudomorph samples from Wyoming were (problematically) referred to as "indian pennies" by some collectors. |
