Description |
A fine small reference sample of renierite, a rare mineral from the germanite group. This slightly iridescent, bronze-colored submetallic sample comes from the famous Katanga mining district, the type locality for this mineral, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This mineral is one of only a few sources of the rare metalloid element germanium, which is a technology-critical element used commercially as a semi-conductor in transistors and other high tech applications. |
